Good news..

After some wrangling.. I can now run & join a test server on my "vista" Big PC.. hehe..
Might have been the service pack though  Tongue.. lol

at least now i can "see" those silly server errors and address them as i see em pop up  Grin
I'll look into getting it "live" soon.. if not for a few "organized" hours of crashtest fun.. ping might be
a little whacked.. but i'll turn off the kickloss (if it aint already lol) & will be running Ion-X & Bio-X comparisions

More on this soon.. PM me any interest / availability on time ect... be nice to get a 3v3 or greater happening.. kinda what X is built for hehe..

In other matters.. I found a fix for some of those "non-supported" errors.. seems having a .cmp attached to things like scanners and tractors
(wich normally don't have a model) fixes that error.. will have to see how far that fix stretches.. but it makes sence..
Errors from LS's Checker are now down to just custom ship HP's .. and a few missing EQ surs that have been fixed now.. that don't mean she's
bug free though.. as we've seen..

Oh.. and i found an Atlanis.. It converted.. but wont open in HCMP.. seems its a wee bit to big for it.. but the new (lova deus) starsphere's and other working .cmps don't either.. so im crossing my wee fingers in hope she worked.. took ages to convert too as the textures were all messed and needed a wrangle.. having ran out of .mod files to convert (Battleclinic's main format for mdls).. i opened the 'ol .3ds box and came out with some goodies.. including a few BSG ships i forgot i had here (work for Kreeargh) Thinking seriously of getting a "real" version of milky.. if not just to kitbash freely and make some more modular stuff.. it also helps ALOT with retexturing.. hehe..

Been a little quiet of late, sry about that.. i had some RL stuff to take care of  :Smiley

Last week saw me pull out every single ship from the shiparch into separate files, clean em up..
and now im deciding on if to spec them before i replace them all back into their file.. hmm..
there was a ton of fuse errors too.. but they all fixed now  Grin

Next will be the solars.. followed by all the Equipment.. Im after a Streamlined codebase basically..
all the blocks are in a different order to the preceding one.. and that makes tweaking a pain and wastes
a helva lot of time looking for the right string ref.. and overall.. just looks plain ugly, lol

On a different front.. My band was just "disbanded" due to personal issues between the bass-player 'n I.
Ended up in blood & fists.. Seems ppl don't like it when i tell em "no", & idle threat to leave was made.. I just
thought that the best time to say "its done.. over.. **** off!" then preceded to get beaten around my loungereoom
by a over-hyped gorilla (he's a big lad).. fat lip & all .. i still say it was worth it, Im a musician.. not a frontman or
model bandm8.. now i can go back to writing just for me.. and XLR..

"Freedom" is worth any beatdown  Wink

BTW in case anyone's wondering.. no i didn't hit back, no point really (I wasn't ****ty) and now i have a legal standpoint to go from
if he takes it any further.. Don't think judges take to kindly to apes that scream at ppl with fists when they loose an argument.. especially
when the recipient of the beatdown is mentally ill and in his own house.. hmm..  & it takes way more than a few swings to my head to fire up the 'ol
death machine anyways  Tongue

Hehe.. show me another who's "bled" for their right to mod.. lmao.. too funny..

Oki so that's all the RL drama out of the way now.. They placed a new tower down the road last week & its playing with the con ****, Im also
copping alot of that Asian lag (being on the end of the line and all) and most outside AUS servers have jumped up by 150ms, these things should soon
settle in or wright themselves soon i hope (alot are suffering the Asian lag flu atm) and i'll be back in and about the FL server rings.

As for now.. I have some HD textures to play with (thanks Radiant!) and a shiparch to remake, then im moving into rassuls mod (mision14) and integrating that into the Storyline addon. I'll also write some info in the tuts latter this week, these wont be a rehash of others tutorials but an insight into how I personaly mod & code FL.. might be of interest to anyone looking to tweak/code their own mod in the future (or already do.. lol).

Just stitched the mod back together and ran a FLEC scan.. few probs still
(mainly due to me lol) but they'll clear soon enough.. some time tonight to be exact hehe  Tongue

I decided a few days ago.. this wont/can't possibly be a patch  Wink Its a entire new build as I've moved & culled
a fair few ships on the way, mainly due to have a better model awaiting HP's 'n stuff.

The quality of the new models is superb!.. and well worth any wait i may incur on ye all.. believe me.. Its worth it  Cool
Starwars & StarTrek fans are in for a treat.. especially Borg lovers..
Battlestar fans will probably have a heart attack! lol.. thank Kreeargh & Whitestar when ye do hehe..
everything else is falling nicely into place.. new Vanilla faction's.. upgraded NPC's (with better shipys!)
sweet HD textures.. propper info.. bah.. it goes on.. oh.. and a rhino full of fixes.. and tweaks/leveling

Only problem is.. this will take a few months at least to get the groundwork finished.. unless someone wants
to help me HP some of these awesome models we have now (its easy.. really!.. and you'll get a sneak peak at em..)
PM me your interest on that.. I'll probably need help with the Startrek ships more.. as there are a fair few!

I have decided on a little "plan" of sorts..  Tongue

Now i finally have X stitched back together (still haven't played it yet lolz) and everything
is now finally in its place and proper folder (reason why it was pulled apart folks  Cool )
I can begin the "real" mod.. yes i said "real" mod..  Kiss

Up till now (about 2 weeks ago basically) X.L.R. was a overblown testbench.. fun yes.. but still
very "loose" around the edges with bugger all consolidation and thought put into the where and why, compared
to what i can do/think up.. basically i was just happy having the new NPC's and not much was invested in look or feel..
Perfect example is the Federation.. I just chose ships according to size and plonked them in a loadout.. gave the feds a few eq/weps
and that was the end of that... about the only real "thought" was the special NPC's .. mainly SCAR ... now.. all this will change.. dramaticly!

During the rearranging of everything.. ALOT of the older (IE: WTS/TEKS/TNG) models were removed on mass..  to make way for the new
ones from BC/models please/Outalance/FallenWarrior/Major/Kreeargh.. & "more" *ALL* Factions were once again reduced to starflyers/CSV's or Liberty Elite's (safe loadouts!) and at moment it all looks a little ... same, same.. BUT.. there is a hell good reason for this.. now I can design proper fleets
and more importantly... * Patch them in as there done* which leads me to the good part..

A New.. leaner.. version of X.L.R. will be available soon for anyone Interested in taking part in the next phase of dev..  keep in mind.. she's
been stripped down to basics, more so than ever before, and there will be a fair few patches along the way to the final "public" build
(sometime early next year).. I "estimate" the final release to be around 500mb'ish and possibly the largest FL mod ever.. lol hence the X in
XLR.. been looking at other "Large" FL mods lately.. with the exception of our beloved WTS & Lancers S's mod.. (aint checked Nightstalkers yet..)
We should be firmly positioned in the top 20'ish this time next year.. and we have something they don't.. full working OSP & now we got ras's "trent the monkey king" to play with too.. and a ton of info on how to make "more" missions for SP.. (that man's a SP GOD!)

Yes im gloating.. hehe.. but it just kinda struck me.. I've got something to gloat about.. were being taken seriously these days.. and that makes me
a very happy modder.. and proud as **** too..  Tongue All i need now is for tose genius's to *stop* releasing awesome content and new hooks for a few weeks
and i can (maybe) finally get back into testing/Playing X myself.. (i still aint seen the HD textures yet.. and they were put in the day they were released!)

Oh, and Awesome to see new faces on the Forum  Grin especially the ones that have freely released resources for FL (my kinda modders!) I seem to
be the only voice here lately.. but don't let that discourage ye from posting anything folks.. this is OUR fourm.. I just keep it cobweb free.. hehe..
well.. try to anyways.. lol  Wink

& before i slink back into the lab for the night!.. (BSG ships tonight.. yay!) Please welcome our newest Dev.. Killer  Cheesy
Our Resident toaster (hehe couldnt resist..) has taken the Cylon ships under his .. erm.. whatever that thing is.. and is
learning the fine art of Hardpointing.. hope all is well m8.. take ye time.. I got the rest of the (colonial) fleet to HP on my end..
It'll take some time.. but the BSG ships are the first to enter the new build. and his help here is greatly appreciated  Grin
Next will be the Starwars ships.. followed closely by SG.. & so forth. Im leaving the Startrek ships for last.. as there are over 100..
including 4 Scimitar variants.. that just have to be seen to be believed!.. in fact alot of the StarTrek stuff is new even to me (concepts).
should be fun!

 Tongue Well, well.. just when I think I've cleaned it all.. ordered it.. structured it...
Jigsawed it all back together.. BANG!.. nup.. CTD in the first 3 seconds of loading..

For 2 days.. this continued with error checkers showing 0 reasons, and eventually..
ended with me putting the new build aside, grabbing the beta & patch.. and redoing it all  Embarrassed
But! Alas! It's done  Grin not finished as yet of course.. still have all the lights and stuff to do
and im only half way though the market files, but Its working again with all the new stuff added
from the last build. Every ship in Shiparch.ini is now in a workable order.. and the exact same
order for every ship makes major overhauls easy.. no more trawling through the .ini jungle just
to change a few flight/cam params, I can now use templates with ease without fear of erasing
or corrupting ship data that may or may not be amongst the desired code..

If ye didn't know already.. freelancers data was written by a few different coders.. all with their
own "style" and order.. add that in with data taken from shippacks (another order maybe) and mods
and ye get a ripe mess!!  Basically (in pure layman).. I just fixed that problem!.. lol, for our ships anyway...

And so.. after a few successful test runs and pics this morning (see FL ships pics thread) I picked up my jaw from the floor
(those HD texures.. OMG!) wiped up the drool from my keyboard.. and proceeded to grab Adoxa's fresh new .dll
This little puppy does a few sweet things.. but overall it enables "roll" whilst the mouse is active.. and freeflight is on
3.... 2.... 1.... BOOM!..  Grin yes.. I've tested it thoroughly.. and im in love....  you really can weave through bases now.. its magic!

Finlay.. I found info on the correct encoding for FL sound on SWAT and have started the re-conversions already, as well as
reducing the file size, It should kill that "missing codec" message. Not overall happy with the sound quality now, but it's still rockin
for Freelancer.. and now i can fit "more" in.. hehe.. Wink I also got rid of the sound error seen often outside of bretonia in XLR..
It was a test laser effect tied to the projectile that didn't end.. just kept looping.. eventually CTD'n you back to winsuck  Kiss

So a small if not painful setback.. but the wagon rolls on  Grin

Not much was done this week... basically testing/setting up the JFLP and playing with
ship data to find a good balance between normal FL flight and the new roll activated flight  Tongue

Spent a bit of time with Wolf-ET this week.. grabbed the texture update & bobots to train with..
nice little time killer.. and there's servers galore too.. woo hoo!! I also spent some time on my net
connection (various fixes) and managed to shave that ugly extra 150ms + an extra 30-40ms of my WTS
ping (now 410.. joy!)

but apart from mbase.ini & system zone NPC's fixes (cause of that freakin badass crash in house systems) and a new ship..
its been pretty quiet this week.. this'll probaly change today/tommorow as its cold & wet.. the perfect time to rug up & code (lol)

Just loaded the new Engine swap .dll from Adoxa.. & yay its works!.. (had no doubt really lol)
now i just have to decide how to use it.. hmm..

Everything else is looking good  Grin & working better, new ships finished every day.

This is starting to feel like my old job....  Tongue A story if i may to explain...

The audience sits in from of a large curtain before the show.. to them it seems nothing is happening behind the curtain
as they are all blissfully unaware of the chaos that is backstage and last minute prep before showtime.. Enter the Tech..
Arms full of wires/mics or whatever is needed at the time, scurrying behind the curtain in a all to familiar rodent impersonation all
whilst the curtain remains motionless every now and then catching the attention of a more aware audience member with a slight
shift every so often.. but not enough to herald the parting of set curtain instigating showtime..

This has basically been my week.. Thankx to the Awesome Adoxa (Jason Hood from QLD!! yay) this little Tech has been scurrying like a
Rabid Rodent trying to be the first to properly implement his changes into FL.. let alone XLR.. & for now.. its done, untill the next magic
.dll

Please give a big hand to our latest XLR "star".. Leveled/Switchable/Mountable ENGINES!!! & Powerplants (leveled now as well)

I also got a hold of Buck Danny.. and procured at least his permission for Epsilon assets.. the other 2 (Parabolix & Veral) are incommunicado
This permission was sought by Both WTS & us.. so expect some funky new ships in both mods apon next release.. I will be pixing them soon as well as the Asgard ships and Forsaken's ships (via subtle request.. lolz  Tongue).

Phew.. im off to nuke some ****.. just got FA for supcom few days ago.. like it hell better.. mods are awesome for FA.. hehe.. then its back to phototime as im taking a break from coding (probably.. not likely though) next 12-24 hours

Those both will allow for creative mounting of Hardpoints like VAT's and true cluster missile fire as seen in Gundam (from seperate HP's and specialized ordnance)... What really gets me exited is the last bit.. "user1 to user5".. me thinks the cloaks will end up there..  Tongue

As previously stated in last post.. work on all this has already begun & results are promising to say the least..

This mountain of Gibberish above ^^ is the final draft of the levels.. Im about half way through
adding/altering it all and deciding what ship is what class and all that jazz... fun times  Cool
Then i just have to add all the appropriate goods in the right places and yay.. I'll release the
new Beta.. gun levels can be patched in latter i thinks  Grin

fix.. check this one...

Clicks icon... but before any mainscreen i get the "wrong password" error.. AND IM STILL B4 THE MAIN SCREEN!!!!
That one way weird to say the least.. but its fixed now... bad SP.fl file.. Wink

I made a backup just before starting on the engine power code.. and all that data was templated first and still exists
as template files.. of witch im going to have to go through one by one.. and find this "problem".. I dare say its a loadout/shiparch mismatch as the Menu comes up.. just CTD's on "creating Universe" ... MP worked until undocking then CTD..

Good thing is... it does work & looks good (easier to pick caps/cells now there itemized).. I just fudged something along the way... at the moment im trying to decide the fastest/efficient fix.. for a workable test release.. at least however all the extra HP's are done on the ships themselves, just all code based work now Wink

Oki's  Cool Gameplan....

I've been sitting here for 2 days trying to decide which way to go with this..
Think I've finaly got it.. although its far from my desired option...

When i started on this task (adoxa's extras) I gave each ship a basic param of lvl1 fighter
and it worked a treat.. BUT.. this also ment that Big ships engines can be mounted on a LF.. umm..
thats kinda silly.. so then came the leveling "experiment".. that failed dismally (grr arghh).

Well.. im going to go back to the working option.. for now.. but i will ask ye's use your head with it..
I will not be responding to questions about why your trader/BS is dead in the water.. or your powerless..
as those Q's are pretty self explanatory.. I will however be creating a overhaul station in each major house
& sector similar to the BSyard stations.. probably right next door too for ease of finding them.. This will be
a true test of how far we can push it.. what works.. and what can be considered a "glitch"/cheat in the future.

I will take all the data into account and level things out... slowly this time & via patches... but the overall good news is...
There will be a new XLR on the shelf in a few days.. rain, hail, blizzard or typhoon.... Its coming i promise  Grin
and has all the bells and whistles I've been raving about... set ye mice to overdrive.. grab a mouse/key converter
if your on less than 5 buttons though.. i had to go buy a new one with 9 just to keep up with the roll (its keyed to < & > with
my scrollwheels left/right emulating the keypress..) takes a bit to get used to.. but its a killer when ye get it
There will be an explanation of the new keys on the night of release.. for anyone stumped at what it all means.. i know i was
for about half an hour finding a good setup that worked for me..

but for now.. WTS is calling...  Tongue Then back to work...  Cool

Hehe.. for some unknown reason.. its working.. not the reversion.. I didn't start that yet..
but the original overhaul.. engines, power.. the freakin works.. even the loadouts are oki...

Bugger if i know why.. all i did was reload the backup.. throw the files at it one by one.. in hope that
one would be the problem.. nip.. all works.. dam must have been the faction data itself.. I changed a few
ships around.. and some reps.. but didn't copy "that" over.. either way it makes me  Grin

Still going to take a few days to make it all make sense at the dealers.. set params and stuff... and make a few more
engines/powerplants to fill the gaps.. and some other needed things..

But All is good!.. and a new XLR will be out in a few days.. when im happy with it  Cool Tongue Wink

This i my 4th attempt... If this fails I won't have the bandwidth left to try again for another week  Undecided

No dev at moment.. sitting here (for about 2 days) watching numbers & progress meters and hoping that this time.. it works

I really don't want to sit on it any longer.. much work to do  Wink
